Our Personal Trainer, David James, has sponsor some simple exercises!

Lower Trunk Rotation:

Helps with hip mobility and getting out of bed.

STEP 1 Lay flat on your back with knees bent.

STEP 2 Slowly lower both knees to the right side as far as you can until you feel the stretch. (As if you were trying to touch the bed with your knees while keeping you back flat on the bed.)

STEP 3 Return to the starting position and repeat on the other side.

 

Neck Stretches:

Helps with neck pain and headaches.

STEP 1 Lay flat on your back with shoulders touching the bed.

STEP 2 Slowly rotate your head to the right until you feel

a stretch.

STEP 3 Hold stretch for 20 seconds.

STEP 4 Repeat on the other side.

Hand Exercises:

Help improve your grip strength and helps minimize arthritis symptoms.

STEP 1 Using something soft; such as a pillow or a foam ball, simply squeeze it with your hand as tight as you can.

STEP 2 Hold the squeeze for a couple of seconds

STEP 3 Continue repeating on both hands.

Arm Raises:

Great for shoulder mobility and strengthening.

STEP 1 Sitting in a chair, slowly raise your arms to the side.

STEP 2 Once you’ve lifted your arm, lower them slowly.

To advance the difficulty you can hold objects during the arm raises (Ex: Water bottle, book, light weights)

Unlock greater mobility and vitality with our sponsored series of gentle stretching exercises tailored specifically for seniors, they can be done from the comfort of your bed, or even from a chair. The exercises are designed to enhance flexibility and promote overall well-being.

It is important to note that everyone’s fitness level and medical history is different and that these are just a few easy options to get you started. If you are feeling pain with any of these movements you should stop them immediately and consult your doctor for direction.

Bruce is inspiring not just to other seniors but all age groups. Bruce is consistent, he comes to the gym every day, he doesn’t need to do a lot because he knows consistency is better than quantity. Bruce respects his limits but never shy's away from his goals. It is inspirational to watch Bruce’s approach to fitness, and it is always great to see a friendly face!
